Living room renovation overview
A full redesign that transformed a bare, lining‑papered living room with an uneven chimney breast, exposed pipework and no storage into a fully balanced, integrated media space. The room originally had minimal features and a 75″ TV which was going to be awkwardly jutting out, but now includes an extended wood‑effect chimney breast with hidden wiring, reclaimed shelving with lighting, backlit media cabinets, upgraded fireplace detailing, new furniture, and a cohesive colour scheme that brings the whole space together.

Structural and decorative work
- Walls painted in Egyptian Cotton for a warm, neutral finish.
- Chimney breast extended using treated wood planks to accommodate a 75″ TV and create a wood‑effect feature.
- Wallpaper or wood combination added for texture and contrast.
- Fireplace painted and enhanced with new edging and a repurposed shelf forming the top.
Media and electrical integration
- Speaker stands added as part of a full 5.1 surround setup.
- Two cabinets with USB backlighting housing all electrics: 4K players, surround amp, and accessories.
- Cable cavity behind the extended breast hides wiring for a clean finish.
Furniture and fixtures
- New sofa purchased from Dusk.
- Lighting replaced on the high ceiling and additional accent lighting added.
- Mirrors installed to improve light and balance.
Shelving and display features
- Four shelves made from reclaimed wood from the previous house, mounted with ornate brackets and lit.
- Titanic display mounted on a bookcase, with wiring channelled into edges and painted.
